Your Words Have Power

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” 3 John 2 KJV

Man is made in the likeness and image of God. God is a trinity, meaning He is a three in one being. God is a Spirit, He has a soul, and both of these are housed in a body of flesh. The Spirit “is the divine nature of man designed to be in regular communication with God. The soul is the mind, the intellect, the will, the emotions, the choice or decision-making part of man – basically his personality. The soul is the part of man which enables him to live practically in this world. The body is the house in which the other two live, and provides the means whereby the spirit and soul express themselves. God desires that you may prosper and be in good health. The phrase here “mayest prosper” in Greek means “to succeed in reaching; to have a prosperous journey.” Are there spiritual goals, career goals, relationships, or other godly dreams that you are reaching for? The phrase “in health” in the Greek means “to be safe and sound; to be whole; to be well in body; to be uncorrupt in doctrine.” Notice this phrase refers not just to physical health, but to spiritual health as well. When a person is uncorrupt in doctrine, it means they have a solid, stable understanding of the Word of God that can’t be shaken by current trends, society, or Satanic affronts. Right now, I want to focus on the health of the soul. You can be “saved”, and can come forth from the dead like Lazarus, but still be bound! There are several causes of being tied up in our soul. I’m going to go over the major ones with you. They are:
  • Words
  • Works of the Flesh
  • Unforgiveness
  • Written Ordinances
  • Curses
  • Soul ties
  • Oaths
  • Vows
  • Wrong Agreements
  • Bloodline
  • Idolatry
  • Transactions
We’ve talked about soul ties in previous articles and resources. Right now, we are going to focus on the power of words.

Death (destruction and ruin) and life (sustenance/maintenance) are in the power of the tongue, and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. Proverbs 18:21

Your future lives in your mouth. GOD takes your words seriously, even if you don’t! This kingdom principle is vital to walk in because this principle, like the law of gravity, governs the world God made for us. Words are containers for power, and they can create or destroy. You must learn to tame or control the tongue, because you are accountable for the words you say. Words are like boomerangs, which come flying back to strike the one who spoke them. Let’s talk about self-imposed and word curses. There is one kind of curse against which even God cannot provide protection: the curses that Christians pronounce on themselves. It is a major way believers bring on themselves various kinds of trouble and they don’t understand the source. By speaking negative words about yourself, you shut off the blessings and expose yourself to curses. Speak life not death.

It is the Spirit who gives life (He is the life-giver); the flesh conveys no benefit whatsoever (there is no profit in it). The words (truths) that I have been speaking to you are Spirit and Life.” John 6:63

Make your words line up with His Word. Speak faith-filled words that don’t contradict what God says about you. Speak life into your life. Isaiah 55:11, “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth, it shall not return void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” You hide yourself from the enemies in your life by speaking His Word. (Psalm 17:4). You will be established and not slide by speaking His Word.

The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom and his tongue talketh of judgment (justice). The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide (slip, shake, waver).” Psalm 37:30-31 (definitions mine)

When Moses sends 12 spies in Numbers 13 & 14, they were to spy out the land which God had promised them as an inheritance. Joshua and Caleb come back saying; “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it”. The other 10 gave a negative report that focused on the giants and walled cities. Their conclusion: “We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we”. In due course, The Lord pronounced His judgment. All those spies – both believing AND unbelieving – determined their own destiny by the words they spoke concerning themselves. The Bible does not address this lightly at all.

37For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.” Matthew 12:37 KJV

It’s important to notice something in this verse. Jesus never said others’ words make you “innocent” (justified) or “guilty” (condemned). He said YOUR OWN WORDS make you justified or condemned. It’s not what others say to you or about you, but what you say. The overall principle you need to be aware of that through your spoken words you are continually making laws for yourself. I cannot stress that enough. Often when a person says something foolish or negative about himself, he excuses it with, “I didn’t really mean that.” However, that doesn’t negate the “law” or principle of God’s kingdom. The fact that you “don’t really mean them” doesn’t in any way minimize or cancel the effect of your words and it doesn’t release you from the accountability of them. Mark 14:66-72 records how, in the court of the high Priest, Peter denied that he was a disciple of Jesus. To enforce his 3rd denial, he actually began to “curse and swear”. In other words, he invoked a curse on himself is what that implicates. Peter was quickly remorseful, but it is doubtful that he fully understood the full implication of his own words. Three days later, at the empty tomb, the angels told the woman, “Go and tell His disciples – and PETER – that He is going before you in Galilee..” (Mark 16:7) Peter was no longer considered a disciple. By his own words he had forfeited his standing as a disciple of Jesus. Later – in John 21:15-17 – the Bible records how Jesus graciously opened the way for Peter to regain his standing as a disciple. He asked Peter 3 x’s, “Do you love Me”? Peter said “YES” – answering in the affirmative each time. Jesus was leading him in this way to revoke his previous denials. For each time Peter had made a wrong confession, he now made the right confession. Peter was reinstated as a disciple and recognized as such. There is a way out.
  1. Repent – Acknowledge that we have made a wrong confession and repent.
  1. Revoke – We must cancel, whatever we said that was in error.

Signs Of An Ungodly Soul-Tie

Man is made in the likeness and image of God. God is a trinity, meaning He is a three in one being. God is a Spirit, He has a soul, and both of these are clothed (or housed) in a body of flesh.
The Spirit “is the divine (God) nature of man designed to be in regular communication with God. The soul is the mind, the intellect, the will, the emotions, the choice or decision-making part of man – basically his personality. The soul is the part of man which enables him to live practically in this world (language, math, social skills, etc.). The body is the house in which the other two live, and provides the means whereby the spirit and soul express themselves. I want to talk to you more in depth about the soul, and it’s function in comparison to the spirit and body because there are issues that can lodge themselves in the soul of a person that can go very deep. The soul of man is that part which is uniquely him. It is what we think of as the personality of man. The soul is the choices we make when we exercise our will. We learn the nature and character of a person by observing the expression of their soul through both their words and actions. These originate in a person’s soul. The soul must be conditioned daily (see 1 Peter 2:11; 1 Cor 9:27) and compelled to submit to the work of the cross in our lives. The mind is the part of the soul that holds the intellect, or the capacity to know things. The will is the capacity to exercise choice, make decisions, and push one towards self-preservation, and self-control (Acts 3:23 KJV). The emotions are the capacity to feel, or to experience. Desires are in the arena of the soul. The dysfunctional soul is carnal and is ruled by its desires. The Word refers to carnality as everything in man that is NOT under the control or dominion of the Holy Spirit, via your own yielded spirit. The proper soul is a submitted will, intellect and emotional being. Wrong relationships tie people’s lives together through a spiritual hold which can cause emotional and even physical damage. It is an unseen control on a person’s life that can powerfully pull them away from the place of peace that God desires for all of His children. This type of tie is called a soul tie. Let’s go over some signs of an ungodly soul tie: An ungodly soul tie produces irrational thinking. Irrational means not capable of reasoning, having lost mental clarity, illogical. An ungodly soul tie causes a person to evaluate themselves and others according to previous context. They can’t see outside of that relationship or mental paradigm. An ungodly soul tie causes a person to shut down emotionally. An ungodly soul tie produces an unhealthy, unnatural desire or attraction to people, places and things, even to the person’s detriment. An ungodly soul tie will cause a lack of judgment and discernment. An ungodly soul tie produces the inability to establish and maintain proper adult relationships. It is my intent by His will to bring forth the practicalities of personal reformation to free you from what has bound you. Like Lazarus, you can come forth… but still be bound! This is going to be YOUR life long work with the Holy Spirit while you are here on this earth as a believer, but I will by the grace of God equip you with the tools to be free and succeed in all that you reach for! Your Spirit man is transformed when you are born again (this was done by the work of the cross!) but your “soul” can still be bound. When you accepted Christ’s sacrifice for your sins and became a believer, only your spirit became perfectly aligned to the Spirit of God. The human soul is not renewed, saved or set free of it’s wrong patterns of thinking, it’s deception and denial, and it’s agendas because of a spiritual salvation experience. The mind, will and emotions must be continually renewed by the washing of the Word of God and by immersing itself in God’s Word and time in His presence with His Spirit. The soul must choose to surrender itself to the will of God. You can cause your soul to do this. If you would like to surrender to God, pray this prayer with me right now: “Father God, I come to you now with repentance on my lips and in my heart. Please turn my heart away from any idols in my life and turn it towards you. You are the fountain from which all blessings flow and I will praise you, Elohim, as long as I shall live. You are the one true God. You are my deliverer and the opener of my womb. You have healed my barrenness by revealing your Son and your Spirit without which I would be lost in darkness. I pray against any attack of the enemy on my mind. May the works of satan in my life be destroyed by fire. Seal any crack or crevice that gives the enemy entrance to my mind, will or emotions. Use my hands to glorify you and destroy the works of the enemy through your Son, Jesus Christ. Remove anything and anyone from my life that does not align with your divine will for my life and my destiny in you. Grant me the discernment to identify and remove idols from my life. I praise you and thank you for my deliverance. I will glorify you all the days of my life. In the name of Yeshua. Amen.”

Dividing Spirit From Soul

I want to talk to you more in depth about the soul, and it’s function in comparison to the spirit and body because there are issues that can lodge themselves in the soul of a person that can go very deep. The soul of man is that part which is uniquely him. It is what we think of as the personality of man. The soul is the choices we make when we exercise our will. We learn the nature and character of a person by observing the expression of their soul through both their words and actions. These originate in a person’s soul.

When you accepted Christ’s sacrifice for your sins and became a believer, only your spirit became perfectly aligned to the Spirit of God. The human soul is not renewed, saved or set free of it’s wrong patterns of thinking, it’s deception and denial, and it’s agendas simply because of a spiritual salvation experience. The mind, will and emotions must be continually renewed by the washing of the Word of God, by immersing itself in God’s Word and time in His presence with His Spirit. The soul must continually choose to surrender itself to the will of God. You can cause your soul to do this.

Soul-ties exist because God wanted close godly bonds between His people. They were intended for man’s best interest as part of the design of God to provide a healthy, nurturing two-way flow of love. A “soul-tie” is a cleaving together, a relationship whereby two souls are “joined” or “knitted together” and in a sense become as one. All human soul-ties must be counterbalanced by a love for Jesus.

He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.” Matthew 10:37KJV

The enemy comes to corrupt and pervert that which God designed as pure in order to steer those bound together by “his yoke” into greater darkness and disorder. When soul ties are ungodly, they restrain from independence or freedom of action or choice. Ungodly soul ties constrain as if by authority, influence, agreement or obligation.

Jesus wept. Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him! And some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died? Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it. Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days. Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God? Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me. And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.” John 11:34-44

It is my intent by His will to bring forth the practicalities of personal reformation to free you from what has bound you – what you “ALL TIED UP.” Like Lazarus, you can come forth… but still be bound! The continual work of the Holy Spirit in your soul is going to be YOUR life long work with the Holy Spirit while you are here on this earth as a believer. I will, by the grace of God, equip you with the tools to be free and succeed in all that you reach for! It is crucial to understand the distinction between body, soul, and spirit. God is a trinity, and man is made in God’s image, we are triune beings also. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 says, “Sanctify you wholly, and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete.” This verse clearly shows a distinction between the spirit and the soul. Since God has said this in His Word, we can see that there is a distinction between man’s spirit and his soul. From this and other similar scriptures, we can safely conclude that man is divided into three parts—the spirit, the soul, and the body. Hebrews 4:12 states further:

“For the word of God is living and operative and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit and of joints and marrow, and able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

There is a great significance of distinguishing the spirit from the soul. It has much to do with the spiritual life of the believers. If believers do not know the boundary of their spirit, how can they understand the spiritual life? If they do not understand the spiritual life, how can they have a spiritual living? When believers are negligent or ignorant of the distinction between the spirit and the soul, they never grow in their spiritual life and live “bound”. Every believer should be able to flesh out what is “God” speaking to them and what is “their own desires shouting loudly.” When we believers participate in the resurrection life of the Lord, the spirit begins to rule over our whole being. This is because those who have believed in the Lord are joined to Jesus Christ, the last Adam, who is the life-giving Spirit (1 Cor. 15:45) and also because of the regeneration of the soul by reading the Word of God and keeping it in your heart and mind always.

If you know that you have ungodly soul ties and truly desire to be free, surrender to God in this prayer with me right now:

Father God, I come to you now with repentance on my lips and in my heart. Amen.”
